Another milestone has been successfully achieved. 14 MMS students took part in the ABS Model United Nations, a simulation conference organized by the Amman Baccalaureate School under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Qais Zayadeen.
In the conference, each delegate was a representative of a certain country/organization in a committee in the UN. Our students learned how to act as active citizens and to be aware of local and global issues thereby applying their critical thinking skills to suggest resolutions to help solve these issues and create change.
Furthermore, our students showed open-mindedness as they accepted other delegates' opinions and used principled negotiation for conflict resolution. Demonstrated by their networking skills, their dedication and commitment, and their ability to interact with people of different cultural backgrounds, our students reflected attributes of a true IB learner and represented the spirit of an MMS student.
What is more, students were active in every discussion, knowledgable enough to confidently argue and propose amendments and showed excellent convincing skills in all debates.
The results were as follows:
Three students namely: Hashim Maraqa, John Srouji and Tala Abdallah from the ECOSOC committee, the HRC committee, and the GA3 committees respectively were nominated as best delegates. In addition to Fatima Atieh being a runner up in the AP committee.
